January 6, 2023

Happy New Year!  I wish you all a healthy and happy 2023!  I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday and enjoyed some time off with family.  It was great to be back to school this week after winter break.  The students and staff got back into their schedules and routines pretty quickly.

With winter here, I’d like to remind our parents to please make sure you allow plenty of time to get your child to school on time in the morning.  With winter roads, it may be necessary to leave home earlier.  I’d also like to remind our parents to send their child to school each day dressed to be outside in the weather.  We still go outside to play in the winter.  Sometimes we are inside before school, but we go outside at lunch recess.  Don’t forget to label all of your child’s outerwear!

The December principal award winners were honored with a pizza lunch this past week.  The students invited to the lunch were Cameron Brown, Antonio Vergara, David Albers, Sofia Ascensio, Bella Holley, Jonah Carreon, Kaiden Rich, Alban Aliu, Spencer Nelson, Alias Bugiyne, Ximena Salinas, Cian Gaspar, Jack Humphries, rebecca hillaker and Greyson Rhine.  A picture of the winners is in this week’s Mendota Reporter.

Don’t forget to access our district website at www.m289.org to see a wealth of information.  You have access to district information and you can also click on each school for building information.  Blackstone has teacher webpages, calendars, our monthly Bear Facts, supply lists, principal award winners, etc. available.  This is a great resource for parents!

There will be an early dismissal on Friday, January 13th for a teacher’s institute.  Kindergarten will dismiss at 11:25 and 1st grade at 11:35.  No lunches will be served on this day.
