District #289 Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten Registration information for all children who will be entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2023 will be passed out soon at Blackstone School. Parents will be able to drive through the North parking lot on Jefferson Street and staff will bring a registration folder out to your car. We will do this on Wednesday, April 19th from 3:30-6:00; Thursday, April 20th from 9:00-2:00 and on Tuesday, April 25th from 9:00-2:00. It is extremely important that all parents who will register a child for Fall 2023 Kindergarten pick up registration information.
Students who register must reside in Mendota School District #289. To be eligible to enter Kindergarten in August 2023, a child must be five years old on or before September 1, 2023. If you have questions about your child’s age/readiness to start kindergarten, please contact the school.
Parents should bring a certified copy of their child’s birth certificate on April 19th, 20th or 25th. We cannot accept the hospital copy. It has to be a certified birth certificate with the seal. We can make a copy for you here at school if needed. In addition, please bring proof of residency. This can be a copy of a utility bill, driver’s license or anything else that has the parent name and address on it. The birth certificate and proof of residency are required documents for your child to start kindergarten.
Parents will receive a folder that has some paperwork that will need to be filled out. You will also find information in the folder on how to register your child online using our database system called Teacherease. There will be some additional information in the folder regarding kindergarten at Blackstone School. We will be providing you more detailed information over the summer about kindergarten and what your next steps will be for your child.
Parents who come on April 19th, 20th or 25th will have their child’s name entered into a drawing for some prizes. We will be giving away Blackstone shirts, backpacks, computer headphones and school supplies. Winners will be notified by phone after names are drawn.
If you are unable to attend on April 19th, 20th or 25th, it is important that you call the Blackstone School office as soon as possible at 539-6888 for further assistance. If you cannot attend, but you have a friend or family member that can drive through, that is fine. It is imperative that all incoming students get registered as soon as possible so we can make appropriate plans for the 2023-2024 school year!

La Información para todos los niños que ingresarán al kinder en el otoño de 2023 que residen en el Distrito Escolar de Mendota #289 se distribuirá en la escuela Blackstone esta semana. Si no puede asistir los días 19, 20 o 25 de abril, es importante que llame a la oficina de la escuela Blackstone lo antes posible al 539-6888 para obtener más ayuda. Si no puede asistir, pero tiene un amigo o familiar que pueda pasar, está bien.
